Watford Gracie Jiu-jitsu LLP teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu and the complete Gracie self-defence system. Established in 2014, it is a founding member of the Gracie Foundation Jiu-Jitsu Network. Classes are taught by certified, DBS-checked instructors.
The beginner programme covers 40 techniques in 23 one-hour lessons. Beginners do not participate in competitive sparring until they earn their Fundamentals Belt. Intermediate training includes Gi and No-Gi classes leading to Blue Belt. Reflex Development is free with all adult memberships. LadySafe is a women-only programme covering 20 common attacks in 10 lessons, and its video course is free for enrolled academy students.
Children's programmes are separated by age and experience, and classes include character development and stranger awareness. Tiny Titans offers a Saturday class for children aged 3–5, with a parent on the mat.
Classes run virtually every day for adults, children and women. Private sessions start at £25 for 30 minutes. Second family members receive 15% off, while third and subsequent members receive 25% off.
The academy is at 1A Garnett Close, Watford, Herts WD24 7GL, above Junction Motors and near Flourish Craft Bakery, with parking nearby. New students can try ten consecutive days of unlimited training free. A white Gi is loaned for the trial against a card deposit.
