St Martins Junior Karate Club
St Martins Junior Karate Club offers structured karate classes for children of all abilities aged five and above, including beginners. Founded in 1985, the club is part of St Martins Karate Group and works closely with the separate St Martins Karate Carnforth club.
Grading progression is based on readiness. Instructors are DBS checked and undertake regular training. Younger leaders and assistant instructors work under adult supervision. Continuing students need a suitable karate uniform, and training is normally barefoot. Students should bring a labelled water bottle.
Children aged 5–10 train on Mondays and Wednesdays from 18:00 to 19:00. Children aged 10 and above train on Mondays from 18:00 to 19:30 and Wednesdays from 19:00 to 20:30. Training times may vary during school holidays. The first two lessons are free.
The club trains at Slyne-with-Hest Memorial Hall on Hanging Green Lane in the Lancaster area. Beginners can try a class without buying specialist equipment. Class enquiries should include the child's age and previous martial arts experience.
