South west martial arts
South west martial arts is a family-friendly martial arts club in Sherborne, welcoming all ages and abilities. It teaches traditional ITF Taekwondo alongside modern competition training and is affiliated with the British Taekwondo Council and Sport England.
The club offers adult and children's classes. Little Dragons is for children aged 4–6, while the junior kickboxing programme is for ages 7–12. Mixed-age kickboxing classes are also available. Little Dragons classes aim for a maximum of six students per instructor and have a qualified instructor and at least one assistant. Lead and assistant instructors hold at least a black belt and are registered with UKITF. Lead instructors are DBS checked and insured.
FAST Defence courses can be taken without joining a martial arts programme. The basic course lasts approximately four and a half hours.
Training is available at two venues: Digby Hall on Hound Street, DT9 3AA, in Sherborne, and the Community Room at Mudford Rec, Chilton Grove, BA21 4AW, in Yeovil. Prospective members are offered two free training sessions and can contact the club or attend a suitable class.
