South West Martial Arts is a family-friendly club for all ages and abilities in Sherborne. It teaches traditional ITF Taekwondo alongside modern competition training and is affiliated with the British Taekwondo Council and Sport England.
The club offers adult and children's classes. Little Dragons is for children aged 4–6, with classes aiming for a maximum of six students per instructor. These classes have a qualified instructor and at least one assistant. Lead and assistant instructors hold at least a black belt and are registered with UKITF. Lead instructors are DBS checked and carry instructor indemnity insurance.
Kickboxing lessons are available for ages eight and above. The club also offers FAST Defence courses without requiring membership of a martial arts programme. The basic FAST Defence course lasts approximately four and a half hours.
Classes run at two venues: Digby Hall, Hound Street, DT9 3AA in Sherborne, and the Community Room at Mudford Rec, Chilton Grove, BA21 4AW in Yeovil. Prospective members are offered two free training sessions and can contact the club or attend a suitable class.
